August 26, 2017 - As insects, ants have three body parts, the head, thorax, and abdomen, along with jointed legs and a pair of antennae. They also have a hard exoskeleton, which is made of a material that is similar to human fingernails. The exoskeleton helps to protect the ant, especially because it is so small. These three parts are called the Head, Thorax and Abdomen. The abdomen of the ant contains two stomachs. The ant stores food for itself in one stomach while the second stomach holds food which is shared with other ants. Like all insects, the outside of their body is covered with a hard armour this is called the exoskeleton.
